This is a big house in Clapham. Rather than an extension, it needed some careful surgery. Our solution was to remove the existing extension and to open up the upper ground floor window all the way down to the ground, thus forming a new double height family room on the lower ground and a galleried study on the upper floor. We engineered the bespoke Douglas fir doors and windows above, which open electrically to allow a summer breeze through the house.
